It’s Thursday night. . . almost Friday, really.  I just returned home from a much needed evening out with girlfriends.  We sat around a seafood covered table and swapped stories, shared laughter, and were endlessly entertained by one friends attempts to pronounce edamame correctly.  (In case you’re wondering:  edd-ah-mah-may).  The house is void of little […]

I LOVE Chanelle's rubber boots! Where are they from? Super cute! Great pictures too!ReplyCancel

  • Summer - June 23, 2012 - 4:06 pm

Becca, the boots are from old navy. Thanks for the compliments!ReplyCancel

I received a lot of compliments on the final picture posted in my last blog.  You know the one?  The image of my three kids looking sweet and beautiful, glowing in the sun while displaying their heartfelt, “We ♥ Dad” message?  (Many thanks for the compliments, by the way)  I think it was the kind […]

I love how you show what *actually* happens when you try to get a perfect photo of three young children! The honesty of the shots makes them all beautiful. 🙂 Thanks for keeping it real!ReplyCancel

  • Sassytimes - June 20, 2012 - 6:11 pm

This makes me laugh…wanna know why? Because I saw that idea on Pinterest and I thought, "Oh, how cute, I should do that!", then I flashed back to reality and realized my kids are 3, 2 and baby. I totally envisioned the whole process you just laid out for us. Although throwing multiple rocks would have been more like it for me. 😉 Ha.

You have much patience, friend. I love the final result.

And I love the CAPTURE vs CREATE. Well said. Well said.ReplyCancel

    HAHAHA!

I love this because it IS real! I think we put too much pressure on ourselves as we strive for perfection because of what we see online and to me, these pictures are perfection!!

And I was dying reading what you wrote and each picture!

Love it and your final picture is fantastic 🙂

    Great job!!ReplyCancel

Oh my gosh, I usually formulate my thought before reading others' comments, but I glanced at Wrestling Kitties response and THAT was exactly what was on my mind … that this is so real; this is exactly what managing three children is all about. They each have their own minds and want what they want in any given moment. I think you did a FABULOUS job in getting these photos and capturing the process. I just laughed out loud at the "Charlie, really?" set up. Oh so human, young man. I love how truly honest you are in these posts … declaring your family imperfection. That is why you touch people so. Keep it going, my friend. You are truly an inspiration! ;->ReplyCancel

Thank you ladies for you sweet comments and words of support. I'm glad to know that my adventure wasn't all that outside of the norm!ReplyCancel

Night has fallen.  Three little ones are sleeping peacefully in their beds.  I have stolen away to the front porch for a few moments to come to this space.   I sit in complete darkness except for the glow of the computer screen and the street light that illuminates the end of our cul-de-sac.  All […]

Love the water balloon attack! I'll have to keep that in mind for next year. My hubby would love it!

Glad you have so many good fathers in your life.ReplyCancel

    Oh! I love this.

    CHAD – you're incredible.

And my favorite line of this post is: "There you have it. . . my husband in slippers, black socks, and shorts carrying Meadow like she's a suit case."

    Fabulous.

(Love how you wrote on the souls of your little ones' feet.)

    GREAT post.

    I hope Chad's day was awesome!ReplyCancel

  • Wrestling Kitties - June 21, 2012 - 2:05 am

    What a lovely post!!

I started getting teary eyed when I saw the picture of Chad walking by Chanelle on her bike and then I laughed at the next picture with him ON the bike. Priceless 🙂

It looks like you have a beautiful family, inside and out and a family full of love and laughter!!

    That is awesome!!

(I am totally going to remember the water balloon thing when Henry is older!)ReplyCancel

“I feel like my insides are hyperventilating.”  The words sound near crazy, I know, but they were mine.  In the middle of a napless day for Meadow and at the end of an extremely hectic week I picked up the phone and reached out to Katy who has been my sidekick most of life.  Despite […]

This post made me believe, even more, that we'd be great neighbors. Ice cream just because? Yep, that's us. 😉

Meadow's cheeks kill me. Sorry she's anti-nap lately…I feel ya. We are sleep training, per Drs orders…although it seems to be slowly working, it's painful. I've been escaping for 30 minutes each night to regain my sanity. 😉ReplyCancel

  • Lisa@Pocketfuls - June 15, 2012 - 12:50 pm

Your stories and photos from the week were very touching — I loved seeing Chanelle bring an umbrella for Meadow, and the balloons drifting off into the bright blue sky were breathtaking! So many of the simple activities you all enjoyed this week (playing chess-checkers with grandparents, ice cream, books from the library, watching kids climb randomly up a shed wall for no apparent reason 😉 ) epitomize the real joys of summer that fill my heart with warmth, too! Lovely post. Keep breathing…ReplyCancel

Hey anytime is ice cream time! The kids look great! Though I miss them! Books are great glad Meadow agrees. And yes I know that feeling well! Take care.ReplyCancel

what a great top 9!! Love all the things you wrote about…especially the ice cream and 3 being a great number! I wholeheartedly agree!! 🙂

  • Wrestling Kitties - June 21, 2012 - 2:15 am

    Love this!!

Summer so far looks very fun at your house 🙂

And Meadow….I could eat those cheeks and that chin up!! She is just too cute.

That second to last picture looks just like the face Henry makes and it is my absolute favorite face he makes! We call it his muppet face because with his big cheeks, big eyes and the flat mouth he looks just like one 🙂 And Meadow is one adorable little muppet in that picture!!ReplyCancel
