It snowed today.  Huge, beautiful, white flakes literally danced through the sky with seemingly no rush to reach the ground.  Winter weather advisory’s were issued, schools closed early and my husband, who plows the white stuff, prepared for a long couple of days while we prepared for a couple of days without him. I really […]

Sum, this was such a great post. What a fun snow-day mama you are. ๐Ÿ™‚ReplyCancel

. . . so here goes.  Each day in my inbox I receive a Daily Challenge email.  The email challenges me to do something practical that will, I’m sure, have a positive impact on my life. . .(if I chose to do them.)  To be honest, my usual practice is to avoid the email and […]

oh man. this whole thing made me laugh. esp. the bath at 12:30! hysterical.

i want to point out one small (but HUGE) thing: motherhood has changed you, but not CHANGED you. does that make sense? you are doing this Mom thing as the genuine/unique person that you are. and for that i admire you.

the sunglasses in the fridge? priceless.

p.s. – i signed up for your challenge. mine for today is to do 10 calf-raises. sorry 'bout your luck that you can't do them, so maybe i'll do 20 – 10 for me, 10 for you?ReplyCancel

I feel like I wrote this post. ๐Ÿ˜‰

Every time I open my cookbook cupboard (which somehow also became the play-doh, sticker, random pieces of craft paper cupboard???), I tell myself I'm going to clean it out and organize it. Never happens. …although I kind of like the feeling I get as I rummage through all the loose papers until I find 'the one'. It's a great feeling to hold that crinkled piece of food dripping covered paper in my hand, knowing the history of it. How many times I pulled that hand written paper out, accidentally dropped ingredients on it and enjoyed the final product. I'm weird. ๐Ÿ˜‰ReplyCancel

TL, maybe knowing you are doing the challenges will motivate me more. Strength in numbers? (I just did 10 1-leg calf raises.) ๐Ÿ™‚

ST, parallel lives we live. ๐Ÿ™‚ReplyCancel

Hm. Yes. The Daily Challenge seems like a toss-up between giving you something to feel good about each day, and something to riddle you with guilt as you're trying to fall asleep each night. I says if you do even one of them a week, you're doing GREAT. ๐Ÿ™‚

I will laugh about the sunglasses in the fridge all day today. ๐Ÿ™‚ Love you, friend. (That picture with the cardinal is LOVELY.)ReplyCancel

Laughed!!!! I know in talking to a special lady we both love she told me how she used to clean one drawer a day…..and I keep saying my bedroom and closet will get organized…….
Love the picures. So how long were Channelle's sunglasses in the fridge?? You need to try banana choc chip pancakes, yummy:)ReplyCancel

Like so many others, I have found myself captivated by the attention that is being poured over the tragedy in Tucson.  I have watched doctors reporting on the condition of Congresswoman Giffords, I’ve listened to eye-witness accounts of the event, I’ve been stunned by the descriptions of those who tackled the gunman. I’ve been broken […]

So sad. I don't understand either. I think we just need to take it as a reminder to live in the moment, soak it up, because like you said, in 10 seconds, it can all change.

I love how Chanelle always wears leg warmers…and I love that black and white photo of her.ReplyCancel

The whole thing was just madness. I especially hate all the political posturing going on now in the aftermath. Ugh ugh ugh.

This was a lovely post, friend — very insightful, as always. And probably my favorite quote so far — I really need to stitch this on a pillow and carry it with me everywhere.

I'm glad you had such a wonderful Girls' Day, even if it happened to coincide with those tragic events.ReplyCancel

Amen….one of my favorite songs and has become one of my favorite sayings is "A New York Minute". The song is by Don Henley but it is basically that a New York minute, because it is in New York is quicker then a minute anywhere else. Life can change in a New York minute or in ten seconds. I can only go to the scriptures then for hope and comfort….I like Proverbs 3:5, trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.ReplyCancel

It’s snowing right now.  Big, beautiful, white, fluffy flakes cover the ground in quickly growing quantities.  Darkness has fallen.  The wind is howling outside and the chimes that hang off our deck are singing a happy little tune.  The inside of the house is silent.  The kids have escaped their beds for the final time […]

In case you didn’t know, I got a new camera.  And, really, I’m quite excited about it.  Thrilled, actually.  Over the holidays I’m certain that I nauseated my family talking about this new piece of electronic equipment.  Seriously, I could incorporate the camera into any conversation.  For example. . . Relative A:  Hey Summer!  What’s […]
