It has been a good week.  A fast week and a good one.  When an extra day is tacked on to the weekend I find myself in a bit of a confused fog during most of the week.  Tuesday is Monday, Wednesday is Tuesday, and Thursday is Wednesday.  But Friday?  Friday is always Friday because […]

Summer, you always manage to make me smile. I'm sorry I don't comment every time, but I have been following you. These pictures are so sweet, and yes, Meadow and the bears are a blockbuster!

What a lucky lady you are to have such a thoughtful Aunt. Nice of her to think the chain and charm should be yours. I just know you will cherish it forever.

Have a fab weekend, my friend.

It was just last fall when I dropped him off for that first day.  When I watched him turn away from me and embark on an experience that was completely separate from me.  I remember the anxiety, fear, and the massive lump in my throat like it was yesterday.  I was overcome with uncertainty. What […]

I was really nervoous about sending Hannah to kindergarten this year too. And then midway through the year, I voiced my initial concerns to her teacher at a conference; and she said "Hannah was absolutely ready for school, she's doing great!" Its hard to let go. I think sometimes our kids are capable of way more than we think but sometimes we just find it so hard to let go/make the "right" decision/be at peace. After all, we are the MOMS here! These are our babies!! But they're not so much. They are growing into beautiful children who will have an amazing impact on the world around them. And Hannah has six days left so I don't have to think about first grade just yet. 🙂 Love you friend.ReplyCancel

“It feels like it must be the middle of summer”, I just said to Chad.  I quickly scan my brain, what is the date? I laugh at myself when I realize it’s still May.  How is that possible? I will admit, I’m as bad as school children (or teachers) when it comes to three day […]

As I read this in my Reader, I thought "that last photo would make a great summer header for her blog…". Then, I click your blog to comment…Adorable!!! I love it.

Looks like the perfect day! We had a low key weekend too.

Meadow with bubbles and a swimsuit…way too cute! V met a small dog this weekend and I wish I had a camera to catch his facial expression. It was priceless. Isn't it amazing to see them experience new things? I love that you can see their wheels turning trying to figure the world out at this age. I can see it on Meadow's face in these photos. So sweet.ReplyCancel

Sounds like a wonderful weekend, I am glad you were able to enjoy yourselves so much!! We re-introduced Walter to the pool this weekend and after a little hesitation, he is now used to it and won't get out! Beautiful pictures of your beautiful children 🙂 Love the new header.ReplyCancel

This post made me smile, both because your family looks so wonderfully happy in all of the photos, and because this is exactly my idea of a perfect weekend, too — a fun and relaxing time with loved ones in the familiar comfort of a beautiful backyard! I'm glad your holiday weekend was such a lovely one!ReplyCancel

Two wonderful posts like always. Fun times! Beautiful kids.ReplyCancel

It has been a girl kind of week in our house.  While Charlie was off doing his big-boy-Kindergarten- graduate-thing, the girls (the girls. . . I don’t think I’ll ever tire of saying that.) and I enjoyed some extra time together, sans testosterone.  Chanelle and I closed out the final moments of our “extra” girl […]

I've been having the 'omg I'm the Mom' thoughts a lot lately. Surreal.

I can't wait for you to experience Chanelle and Meadow being best friends. It's the gift that keeps on giving…to everyone around them too. So sweet!ReplyCancel

Oh my gosh, this post got me very teary.

From the part where your daughter asked you to write this down (um, how sweet!) to seeing your two daughters together. Seriously, the sweetest post and your girls look like the sweetest. Those pictures of them together melt my heart!

Every night I rock Henry to sleep. Books say I should put him to sleep drowsy but awake, but it is in this time where I rock him to sleep that I just stare down at him and am absolutely amazed by the fact that he is my son and I am his mother. I cherish those moments with all my heart!

I can't believe how much one little person can change your life! LOVE IT.

Have a wonderful weekend with your beautiful family!!ReplyCancel

It happens every time.  Without fail, every time I do it. . . it happens.  The alarm sounds and I glance at the clock. . . 5:40 a.m.  For a moment I bury my head back into my pillow surrendering to exhaustion.  As soon as my eyelids squeeze shut and I feel the comfort of […]

  • Sassytimes - May 24, 2012 - 11:47 am

Good morning, friend! As always, I am in awe of you.

I'm not a morning person, but (pre kids) I used to LOVE to run late at night. It was quiet, except for crickets and frogs, and I loved the way the moon and stars lit my path. To me, it was free therapy. I miss it. 😉

Running is the only time my mind slows down. Everything makes a little more sense when I run.

It makes me nervous that you never take your phone with you…the 'mom' in me started to come out reading that…"Summer, what if something happened to you!" Haha.

Your scenery is amazing. That tree looks like a painting. Beautiful.ReplyCancel

  • CharisFaith - May 24, 2012 - 1:04 pm

Your pictures capture why early morning runs are my absolute favorite!!!

I always take my phone with me. Including during my races. I've gotten so used to it, it's like an attachment. I don't run with an ipod or any music. I've never been able to make it comfortable enough for me to handle while running.

Often times when I don't feel like going for a run, or to work out, I remind myself I never regret going, I always regret not going!ReplyCancel

  • becca - May 24, 2012 - 3:23 pm

I think this post just motivated me a little more. I want to run for health benefits and I want to be able to reach the point that this post so beautifully describes. I just struggle to stay going (and to get up in the morning)! I think the "you won't regret it" thing is what I'm going to try using. Thanks for the motivation!ReplyCancel

  • Adopted aunt - May 24, 2012 - 9:57 pm

Ok Summer I have to admit I never understood why peopleh want to get up early and run. But now through your words, descriptions, which make my heart flutter, your pics I can at least see why you run, and probably more. But my body won't let me run, but hopefully I can at least walk! Beautiful words, pics. Wow you got to see Gods day begin!ReplyCancel

  • Wrestling Kitties - May 25, 2012 - 1:22 pm

That is amazing!! To see that in the morning is beautiful and to run like that is impressive and inspiring!

I actually read this post quickly last night before bed and it inspired me to get up and workout this morning. It wasn't a run, but it was something! I NEED to workout for my health and the last 8 months I have not focused on my health as my husband and I work different shifts and are home alone with Henry. I just haven't made time for ME. But I need to and this got me up this morning to start, so thank you!!ReplyCancel
