The Sixteenth of August

“Each friend represents a world in us, a world possibly not born until they arrive, and it is only by this meeting that a new world is born.”
-Anais Nin

Would you mind indulging me for just a moment?  You see, today is the 16th of August, the birthday of a very special blogger friend.  And, well, I just love to say ‘Happy Birthday!’

Blogger friends are very special friends and unless you have experienced it, I realize there is no way anyone can really understand these blogger friendships. The cool thing about this friend is that I knew her BEFORE this blogging thing even existed.  Somehow, though, the blogging venue has strengthened what was and taken the friendship to an entirely different level.

The blogger friend I am referring to is my dear, hilarious, insightful, witty, gorgeous, and faithful friend over at Two Pretzels

I still remember the first time I met her.  It was during our Freshman year of college and we were in some sort of communications/debate(?) class together.  I’m sure she doesn’t even remember, but I do.  I remember her blondish spiky hair, her quirky style, and her sweet demeanor.  (Her hair is very different now, but that sweet demeanor remains fully in tact.) I remember the confidence that emanated from this interesting girl and within moments of meeting her I knew she was the real deal.

Through the years the paths we took led us in varying directions, but I am so thankful that years later I still call her “one of the girls”.

Ky, we both know that I could go on and on and on and. . . . you get the point.  There are times, however, when a few simple words can completely capture the essence of what I want to say.  That’s what happened when I read the above quote.  The words of Anais Nin captured perfectly what I feel.  Ky, I am so very thankful that you are in my life.  I am thankful for the day in May 2006 when you first opened “the doors” of Two Pretzels and thus, began inspiring me.  The courage, strength, passion, and honesty with which you live your life has spurred me on to do the same.  Simply by being who you are, you have impacted the direction of my life and drawn out a new world in me.  I will be forever grateful for that.

Ky, I wish you the happiest of days and the most wonderful year yet.  You truly are one-of-a-kind and I am honored to call you friend.

Happy Birthday, my beautiful Friend.

p.s. this song is for you. 😉

First off – YAY LIONEL! (I loved that.)

    Secondly, Oh Summer…

    This post.

I love that this platform has been a way for us to grow closer. (I am continuously taken aback by your candidness and eloquence. You inspire me to be more thankful. Every day.) The emails that have been inspired by these posts… your kind words, your reassurance, your listening ear… YOU ARE SO COOL.

    Thank you for being awesome.

And that quote? Oh boy, it's resonating today.

    I'm blessed.
    I'm a blessed girl.

And, I'm so blessed to know YOU.
