So far, so good. . .

I can hardly believe it myself. . . I’m still at it.   My 365 project is still going strong.  I am currently on day 95.  (Last year I made it to day 81.)  I’d call that a downright success!

Here are December pictures. . .

I’m not one to count my chickens before they hatch.  Until I click my shutter button for that 365th picture, I won’t feel complete confidence that the project will be finished . You may call it pessimism, I call it realism.  The winter months are especially difficult to find interesting shots, but I’m trying.

Speaking of pictures taking. . . one of my goals for this year is to challenge myself.  Stretch myself.  Learn more and grow more as a photographer.  (My hands still shake when I use the words “photographer”. . . I’m more comfortable saying one who likes to and is learning to take pictures.)

Anyway, I was recently inspired by a project started by photographer and blogger  Urban Muser .  The project, titled In The Picture, focuses on self-portraiture.  The goal is to get on the other side of the camera.  In case you haven’t noticed, getting in front of the camera is not something I do very often.  In fact, it is something that I do not like to do. . . ever.  Call it shyness, call it insecurity, call it what you will. . . I’d rather be behind the camera, not in front of it.

Several months ago I purchased a remote for my camera.  The intent was to step out from behind the camera.  The remote has sat packaged neatly in my camera bag.  Urban Muser’s project inspired me to dig it out and learn how to use it.  I wasn’t sure what I was doing.  After a bit, the camera clicked. . .

I figured it out!  (Chad is NOT camera shy).  Even Charlie figured out how to use the remote. . .

Where’s Waldo Meadow?

Since I have nothing else to do with my time with three kids, a job, a family, a house, blah, blah, blah. . . I’m giving this project a try.

I may only take one self-portrait or several.  At this point I’m just not sure.  The first is complete. . .

We’ll see where it leads.  I’ll tell you this much, it feels kind of good, kind of scary, kind of cool to step out and do something completely uncomfortable.  Who knew?
