“We do not remember days, we remember moments.” -Cesare Pavese That quote resonated with me.  It is perfectly representative of how I’ve been feeling today. I’m at my Dad’s house and it’s late. Tomorrow morning (today, really) I will travel with my family to the funeral of my 19-year old cousin and say good-bye to […]

This is so true, friend. So true.

I've been stuck in this 'how can I be a better mom' rut, thinking I need to do more, etc. Yesterday, the sun finally came out while I was cleaning up after lunch. I asked the girls if they wanted to go out on the deck for a few minutes before nap. You would have thought I announced we were having Dora over for dinner. We simply sat on the deck, running back and forth in the sunshine for an hour. I heard more "Mama, I love you so much" than I've ever heard in such a short period of time. It made me realize that it doesn't matter how much I plan fun things…sometimes, fun finds us.

    I'm praying for your family.ReplyCancel

This post brought tears to my eyes! I too have been realizing more and more that it is the simple moments that in the end have the biggest impact.

    Have a blessed day!ReplyCancel

Continue to enjoy the moments! You guys are great parents…..the kids will have so many moments captured in their hearts.ReplyCancel

On Saturday morning I woke up and I knew it was time.  The sun was casting its brilliant beams through our windows and even if I wanted to, I knew I couldn’t resist.  I pulled on my shorts and t-shirt, grabbed my running shoes and after doing a few stretches, I headed for the door […]

Awww…I'm so sorry for your pain and I am sending prayers to help heal you and your family.

This post and photos are so touching and truly profound. Just in the last 2 months I have been trying to make it a daily reminder to live my life like that…It gets so hard sometimes to remember that we are not in control…thank you for sharing your heart and pain with us. As always, your openness has such an impact in my life…thank you.

    hugs to you…ReplyCancel

I'm so sorry for your loss. I'll be praying for your family.

…and you are so right about control. It's hard to accept though. I keep reminding myself that the only control I have is prayer. Whenever I feel as though I'm worrying too much and trying to control everything, I stop myself and start praying. Letting it all go, as in reality, my life is already planned. My job is just to enjoy each day I'm given to it's fullest and appreciate it.ReplyCancel

I am so sorry for your loss. It is so true that life is fragile. And among the chaos and business it can be easy to forget to be grateful for this life that He has given us…. and to take it for granted.

Thank you for the reminder today!

    Sending lots of prayers.ReplyCancel

1. Throwback Music I’m talking about MMM Bop, the song that is currently playing.  Do you remember it?  I heard the song today and was completely transported back to the summer of 1997.  My sister and I were driving in my little white Ford Probe on a beautiful sunny Saturday morning.  We were driving to […]

Hi Summer!I got your blog from Hillary Nikkel, she says that you go to our church so I wanted to have a peak.

You have a very lovely and uplifting blog! Something that is unfortunately hard to come by in the blogging community these days! Our blogs look very similar and I can tell you like taking pictures as much as I do. 🙂 If you feel like it, swing by my blog. I just created a new photo meme that might interest you.

Your kids are adorable and congrats on the new little one!

    Talk to you soon!

. . . there was a mama who sprinted to her computer with an almost obsessive need to purge her thoughts onto the glowing blank screen of her Blogger page.  The tap-tap-tap of the keyboard matched the thump-thump-thump of her heart as she excitedly reflected on the tiny little things that made her life beautiful.  […]

I can recall one summer day, I believe it was the first day of summer vacation, and I was in our front yard.  I’m not sure how old I was, but I know it was the earliest house in my memory–which we moved from when I was eight.  I remember slowly walking through my front […]

Totally not weird. It assures me even more that we were meant to 'know' each other in some way. I swear, we live parallel lives. You are an inspiration to me, even more now than ever.

Summer (and Chad)…That "something missing" in our own life has undoubtedly become the something that has completed us as a family. Having a third child has been nothing but a blessing. Not to say you should be done with three (that's clearly up to you guys), but I say that to reassure you that when you have that feeling that something isn't quiet finished yet, it is the nudge from God Himself saying I still have another gift for you. Quinn has been such a gift–such a blessing to our lives. I am sure God has the same in store for you! For us, the transition from two to three was not nearly as hard as one to two nor nearly as hard as we thought it might be. We LOVE it! Congrats and many, many blessings as you journey through pregnancy and then hold that sweet naked babe in your arms for the first time and transition to being a family of 5. It is sweetness. From one thinker to another…be excited, Summer. Be excited–God has amazing and wonderful things in store for you!ReplyCancel
