As I was driving to work this morning I said to myself. . . “Self, you need to adjust your attitude.” Seriously, the thought came like a flash of lightening.  Maybe it was the exhaustion of the previous 28 hours of fretting, worrying and commiserating with myself.   Maybe it’s because I don’t have it in […]

And another thing, your children will watch how you deal with this and learn from it. If you keep a positive attitude and a smile on your face (the Vicodin will help with that. Ha.), they will also learn how to deal with obstacles and overcome them. ….and maybe they can do a little role reversal and be your caregiver? 😉

Do you remember the typewriter?  You know what I’m talking about. . . the click of the keys, the ding indicating the end of the line, and the zip as you move the paper back to starting position before rolling the paper to the next line: click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-ding!-zip-roll click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-ding!-zip-roll click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-ding!-zip-roll click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-click-ding!-zip-roll I didn’t use a typewriter […]

I seem to have a lot of those days lately with the Holidays approaching (which is one reason I'm doing my thankful posts…to keep things in check)….and I realized that it always has very little to do with my kids and very much to do with me. I try to do too much during the day, accomplish too many tasks that really aren't that feasible with two little ones, then I get frustrated that I can't do it and take it out on them. Not nice Mommy.

I do the apology thing too and the look on my 2 year old's face and her little "Momma, it's okay, I forgive you. You happy now?" makes me feel all shades of Mommy guilt and start over with a fresh perspective. We all have those days. Motherhood isn't easy. What we do with those days and the days following is what matters.

You are a great mom. It's nice to see/read that you are 'normal' too. 😉ReplyCancel

Aww, S. 🙂 You're such a wonderful mama and wife (and friend!). We're all entitled to those "off" days now and then. I think you respond to the good AND the bad in your life with a level of grace that most of us can only aspire to.

    I hope today is a better day!!ReplyCancel

    Oh friend.

You know what one of my friends told me on Tuesday night?

She just said, "Hey, you know what? Cut yourself some slack."

    It resonated with me.

    It's true, though.

Life goes on even if the baking doesn't get finished. And even if there are still cookie sprinkles all over my kitchen floor for the 4th day in a row. (My situation.)

    Keep on, keepin' on, lady.

And a big hug to you, too.ReplyCancel

That last picture is priceless!!! In the big picures, these off days, they won't be remembered. The moments that you capture and the memories you are sharing, these are valuable!! Everyone has an off day and you're allowed!! You're a fabulous mom and I am so thankful that you share the glimpses you do into your life 🙂ReplyCancel

Do you remember, back in November, when I appealed to you through this here blog?  A tiny letter where I expressed to you how much I like to capture the little insignificant moments of our days so you might feel that you are a part of them, even though you are most often at work.  […]
